Cytological analysis of some stocks of Drosophila melanogaster derived by unequal crossingover at or near the white locus.

چکیده
appears that certain combinations of mutant alleles at the white locus in the chromosome of Drosophila melanogaster give rise at meiosis to unequal exchanges. These exchanges result in complementary deficiency and duplication chromatids. Furthermore, with a given combination of alleles, the exchanges seem to involve specific regions within or close to the white locus, so that the resulting deficiencies and duplications are constant for a given allelic combination. JUDD (1961) has provided both genetic and cytological evidence for this constancy. GREEN (1959a,b, 1961) has made a genetical analysis of similar deficiencies and duplications. I am indebted to DR. GREEN for some of his stocks of which a cytological analysis is presented in this paper.

Bar Eye in Drosophila Melanogaster: A Cytological Analysis of Some Mutations and Reverse Mutations.
NUMBER of stocks of Drosophila melanogaster, some of which arose by A changes from wild type to Bar eye, and others by reversions or partial reversions from Bar, double-Bar or double infra-Bar toward wild type, have been accumulated in this laboratory. Most of the stocks originated in this laboratory and were obtained by irradiating males with X-rays, mating them with normal females, and select...
متن کاملConcentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)
Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...
متن کاملToxicological Evaluation of a New Lepidopteran Insecticide, Flubendiamide, in Non-Target Drosophila melanogaster Meigen (Diptera: Drosophilidae)
Background: Flubendiamide, comparatively a new pesticide designed to eradicate lepidopteran insect pests is known to have low risk to birds, mammals, fish, algae, honey bees, non-target arthropods, earthworms, soil macro- and micro-organisms, non-target plants as well as sewage treatment organisms; however, the risk assessment for aquatic invertebrates from metabolite could not be finalized wit...
متن کاملAconitase and Developmental EndPointsasEarly IndicatorsofCellularToxicity Induced by Xenobiotics in Drosophila Melanogaster
Background: In this study, the toxicity of the different xenobiotics was tested on the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster model system. Methods: Fly larvae were raised on food supplemented with xenobioticsat different concentrations (sodium nitroprusside (0.1-1.5 mM), S-nitrosoglutathione (0.5-4 mM), and potassium ferrocyanide (1 mM)). Emergence of flies, food intake by larvae, and pupation h...
متن کاملCytogenetic analysis of chromosome region 73AD of Drosophila melanogaster.
The 73AD salivary chromosome region of Drosophila melanogaster was subjected to mutational analysis in order to (1) generate a collection of chromosome breakpoints that would allow a correlation between the genetic, cytological and molecular maps of the region and (2) define the number and gross organization of complementation groups within this interval. Eighteen complementation groups were de...
